Plot: The film is based on the legend of Kannappa, an ardent devotee of Hindu god Shiva. originally an atheist hunter, becomes a devoted follower of Lord Shiva and even plucks out his own eyes as an act of extreme devotion.
Other cast members include Preity Mukhundhan, R. Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Madhoo, Devaraj, Aishwarya, Mukesh Rishi, Rahul Madhav, Kaushal Manda, Raghu Babu, Arpit Ranka, and Saptagiri.
Development:
The film is based on the mythological story of Kannappa and took nearly a decade to materialize.
Actor, screenwriter, and director Tanikella Bharani initially worked on a period drama film set in the 14th century titled “Bhaktha Kannappa” with Sunil in the role of Kannappa.
Actor-producer Vishnu Manchu later announced his production company’s collaboration with an American company to produce a film titled “Kannappa Katha”.
The film was formally launched in August 2023, and principal photography began in New Zealand in September 2023.
The screenplay is based on a story developed by Paruchuri Gopala Krishna, Eshwar Reddy, G. Nageswara Reddy, and Thota Prasad.
Music: The original score and songs are being composed by Stephen Devassy and Mani Sharma.
