Virgin Galactic is an American spaceflight company founded by Richard Branson and the Virgin Group conglomerate. It is headquartered in California and operates in New Mexico. The company is developing commercial spacecraft and aims to provide suborbital spaceflights to space tourists.

Virgin Galactic’s suborbital spacecraft is air-launched from beneath a carrier airplane known as White Knight Two. The spacecraft, called VSS Unity, has two pilots and can carry up to six passengers.

On July 11, 2021, Virgin Galactic successfully completed its first fully crewed spaceflight, with Richard Branson as one of the passengers. The flight reached an altitude of 53.5 miles (86 kilometers), which is considered the edge of space.

Sold over 600 tickets for its spaceflights, which cost $250,000 each.
