Netflix has fallen on hard times in recent months, and at this point, the streaming giant is basically being propped up by a handful of popular original series.
One of those shows is The Crown, the acclaimed drama about the decades-long reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
If you’re a viewer, then we probably don’t need to tell you that the show doesn’t always depict the royal family in a flattering light.
In fact, insiders say the Windsors are frequently aghast at the manner in which they’re portrayed on The Crown.

So you can imagine their surprise when the Queen and company learned that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might be playing a part in promoting the show’s long-awaited fifth season.
Now, you won’t be seeing Harry and Meghan appearing in commercials for the show, which has already characterized Prince Charles as an abusive, philandering spouse, and will soon delve into the death of Princess Diana.
But according to a new report from Page Six, Netflix execs have made it clear that they intend to make use of their partnership with the Sussexes to help garner attention for The Crown Season 5.

The show is set to premiere in November, and the hope at Netflix is that Harry and Meghan’s upcoming docuseries will be ready to premiere the following week.
Apparently, Netflix is anticipating an uptick in interest in the royal family, and they want to ensure that they’re well-positioned to take advantage of it.
“There is a lot to organize and a lot of things at play here,” one insider tells Page Six.

“Netflix wants to make sure they get in there and don’t get scooped.”
When Harry and Meghan signed a deal with Netflix, members of the Windsor clan were reportedly furious, as they felt the move signaled to the world that the couple approved of the way that the royals are portrayed on The Crown.
The Queen’s worst nightmare would probably involve Harry and Meghan working for the show directly — but this scenario is likely a close second.

Also at issue is the fact that Harry’s much-anticipated memoir is slated for release by the end of the year.
In addition to cashing in on the synergy of all three projects being released at once, Netflix is hoping to release The Crown Season 5 ahead of Harry’s memoir in order to avoid being overshadowed.
After all, it could be tough for a scripted series to outshine a work of nonfiction written by a man who bore witness to many of his family’s most shocking moments.

The upcoming season of The Crown will feature another of the show’s periodic casting shakeups, with Elizabeth Debicki playing Diana and Imelda Staunton of Harry Potter fame being tapped to portray the Queen.
It remains to be seen if the upcoming season will broach the subject of Diana’s death, but whatever the case, it’s sure to be just as unflattering for the Queen and company as the previous seasons.
And with Harry and Meghan’s tacit seal of approval, the new episodes could make for an even deeper rift between the two warring factions of the royal family.

JoJo Siwa rose to stardom as a contestant on Dance Moms.
Which now seems more relevant than ever before.
Because she just danced, and stomped, all over the reputation of Candace Cameron Bure.
The 19-year old uploaded a TikTok video on Sunday, July 24, in which she sought to expose a number of celebrities for a number of different reasons.
In the footage, Siwa is wearing a light blue bikini and hanging out by the pool and she quickly shows the camera a photo of different stars while responding to various prompts.
When it came time to reveal the “rudest celebrity I’ve met,” Siwa flashed a photo on her phone of Cameron Bure in a short-sleeve maroon turtleneck while filming the sitcom Fuller House.
“Pool day = exposed hahahha,” the pop star captioned the post.
Seemingly in response to this slight, the veteran actress jumped on social media on Monday to share a cryptic bible verse.
“Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock,” Bure, posted via Instagram Story on July 25, labeling the quote from Isaiah 26:4 in the Bible.
For the record, Bure wasn’t the only person Siwa called out in her TikTok post.
The Dancing with the Stars alum also called out Nickelodeon for “[doing] me dirty” alongside a photo of SpongeBob Squarepants.
The singer and young businesswoman has been open about her tumultuous relationship with the children’s network, alleging in September 2021 that she has been barred from performing songs from her movie The J Team while out on tour.
“I go out on tour in January,” Siwa wrote via Twitter at the time.
“My movie musical was just released (with 6 new original songs) … Nickelodeon told me today that I’m not allowed to perform/add any of the songs from the film into my show.
“These are MY songs. My writing. Does this seem fair???”
Seven months later, Siwa claimed that the network snubbed her by not inviting her to the 2022 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards… despite her being nominated for the event.
“A lot of you have been asking me why I’m not at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards tonight,” she said during an Instagram video in April.
“And the answer is very simple: I wasn’t invited. I’m not sure why. But I didn’t get an invite.”
As for who Siwa does seem to support?
Siwa listed Zendaya as her celebrity crush…

Bravo stunned fans with recent reports of a The Real Housewives of Orange County casting shakeup.
Some fans feel disappointed, but it’s not all bad news.
Viewers have been anticipating Tamra’s return to the series for years, especially after her Ultimate Girls Trip adventures.
Now, it’s official, with Tamra confirming her return — with a little behind-the-scenes glimpse.
“The Judge is back and drama’s in session,” Tamra Judge tweeted on Wednesday, July 20.
While she didn’t explicitly state that it’s her tagline for Season 17 … she came pretty close.
First and foremost, she included tags like “#RHOC” and “#Season17” along with an orange emoji.
Tamra also included a GIF of herself posing in front of a green screen.
We all recognize the poses that the Housewives do to create the title graphics for each season.
Twitter did that annoying thing where it turns every GIF into a video, but we turned it back into a proper GIF:
Tamra joined The Real Housewives of Orange County way back in Season 3.
From there, she became part of the core cast for twelve seasons.
A couple of years ago, however, that changed, as Bravo planned to “shake up” the cast by canning OGs.
Technically, Tamra wasn’t fired — but only in the sense of, like, a retail worker whose hours are cut down to nothing.
Bravo offered Tamra a “Friend” role … after twelve seasons clutching her orange, it was an insult.
Alongside franchise OG Vicki Gunvalson, she turned down the “offer.”
We don’t have to tell you that Season 15 and Season 16 did not quite live up to Bravo’s expectations.
Several factors lowered ratings, from a boycott to pandemic filming limitations.
But no matter which way you put it, the show hasn’t been the same since Tamra left.
Some would say that Bravo felt overwhelmed with regret and wanted her back.
That may be partially true.
But even in the weeks after Tamra left RHOC, Andy Cohen made it clear that he’d love to have her back.
In a perfect world (okay, more like “if Bravo’s plans had worked”), the Season 15 cast would have worked.
Braunwyn could have become a central focus for the cast, with Shannon finding a new dynamic without her Tres Amigas.
Then, Tamra would have rejoined a cast where the politics and alliances and feuds were different than before.
That is obviously not how things went down at all.
In addition to the pandemic troubles, Braunwyn ended up destroying her own reality career just as it began.
She openly spoke about committing domestic violence against her husband — more than once. Vile stuff.
Even if Bravo’s dreams had come true, it would be time to bring Tamra back into the fold.
As things stand, the show likely needs Tamra’s return.
Will Season 17 go over better with fans than 15 and 16 did? We sure hope so.

We all watched as Jibri Bell picked a fight with everyone on the Season 9 Tell All Part 1.
It was bizarre to watch a larger-than-life but relatively chill dude suddenly picking fights with, well, strangers.
What came over him?
And why did he single out these particular “enemies” from among his castmates?
When Jibri and Miona Bell rolled up to the Tell All, they were of course wearing matching clothes.
Some viewers hate it. Honestly, it’s incredible that they can pull it off.
Their actual outfits for the Tell All itself were a little different (and not matching), but flashy enough to suit their larger-than-life personalities.
On the Tell All stage, Jibri and Miona were not one of the couples expecting a child.
That is just fine and is in fact totally appropriate for their ages and also their finances.
But when Miona acknowledge the “weird energy” from Jibri’s mom, Mahala, Ariela Weinberg had a suggestion.
Ari noted that perhaps Jibri, as Mahala’s son, was the best candidate to resolve the tensions.
Jibri immediately launched an all-out attack on Ariela, declaring that she is “the most jealous” person.
Ariela has acknowledged being jealous in the past. She also noted that it may make her qualified to pick up on jealousies.
When Biniyam shared his good news, however, Jibri chimed in again over Ari being “realistic.”
Simply put, he declared that she is holding Biniyam back from becoming an MMA superstar.
It’s hard to tell how much was Jibri itching for conflict and how much was him projecting his band dreams onto Bini.
Everyone ended up discussing jealousies and insecurities.
This briefly moved the conversation away from Jibri and his apparent one-sided feud with Miona.
It turned out that Jibri did have some very selective positive opinions about castmates. Bini was one, which makes us assume that Jibri never watched The Other Way.
Another was Mohamed Abdelhamed. He and Yvette Arellano discussed how he has gradually adapted to life with her.
While most condemned Mohamed for controlling behavior, such as police how Yve dresses, Jibri had another view.
He praised Mohamed for “adapting” to his new life and to American culture. Considering what we know about Mohamed, that might not age well.
Then there came John, Patrick Mendes’ brother.
He was first and foremost there to comment on Patrick and Thais Ramone’s life, including their pregnancy. A pregnancy that he had drunkenly leaked to a friend, by the way.
But he very memorably became embroiled in a heated war of words with Jibri.
Jibri asked John if he was “drunk right now.” John admitted to drinking the night before, but denied being drunk at the time.
He then referred to Jibri as “spah-kles,” which one assumes mean “sparkles,” a nod to his outfit.
“I’m just glad you don’t have that cah-boy hat on,” John told him. Truly, John was the only one who hit back as hard as Jibri came for him.
But … what motivated Jibri to be so combative? In such an over-the-top way?
Well, the best theory is that production asked him to, promising that it would improve his chances of returning for another season.
We know that producers often goad the cast like this. The alternative is that Jibri was just in a weird mood the day that this filmed. With him, who knows?
